It's A Boy!!

Now that it's official as of today, I am announcing the newest part of my life...that a baby boy is coming in March!  So as was noted, my fashion goals will be put on hold for a bit-- (although a friend gave me some cute maternity clothes, so that has helped some) :)  However, there is still plenty to keep me occupied with Friendships, Family Life, Fitness, Faith, Face, and Food.

As a sum-up, I've been lucky to re-connect with good friends, finally scrubbed the grout in my kitchen tile, kept exercising (though not running anymore), had many opportunities for faith-strengthening, bought some new mascara (to replace the dried up stuff I'd been using for 2 years), and tried some new recipes!  Life is wonderful! <3

Gone Fishing

Lest you think I've abandoned my cause and my blog-- I haven't. I've just been doing other things, or working on becoming better but not writing about it. I'm not sure how to work with the blog format as far as updating the tab categories, but I'll just keep adding new things to the same page and putting the date on there. I'll occasionally do a new post on the homepage-- but it's all fairly random.

I still believe in goals and deadlines, even though I've struggled much of my life with that process. Most the time it hasn't worked out because I was really unrealistic and demanding of more from myself. However, with a four-year timeline I think I'll be just fine. :) I know I've improved in my life gradually anyway, but with this endeavor I really want to make sure that I get to where I want to be in a specified amount of time. It is still going to push me because I'm still reluctant to change much in some areas. Yet it is not too overwhelming because it is absolutely do-able for the kind of person I am.

I've postponed the Fashion area for now because...I'm expecting a baby in March! This is an amazing blessing and miracle, and I am so grateful! That said, I won't need to re-do my wardrobe quite yet. :) For the next year or so I really want to get a handle on Family Life (specifically home management/cleaning/organizing) and Face (make-up and such.)  I've also been making some strides in the Food category and getting outside of my comfort zone.

Life is funny and crazy and difficult and enjoyable-- and I've felt all of those things the past few months. I am grateful to have the life I have and for the opportunity to make it better everyday. :)

Here It Begins

Four Years to Forty and Fabulous

The picture that accompanies this post is of a sunset on the Pacific Coast. Not that I feel that I'm in the sunset of my life--(let's hope not)-- but that I'm starting with the end picture in mind.  The age of 40 is one of those milestones that many may look at with trepidation or dread. I just turned 36. I am wanting to look forward to it as an exciting goal mark of being closer to the person I really want to be.  I've had this idea for a while and wanted to try documenting my progress through a blog.  I've kept putting it off, but after reading a great article I want to actually get started on it now.

I enjoy reading about others' journeys toward more life fulfillment and purpose, such as Gretchen Rubin's The Happiness Project.  Like hers, most projects are for a year. We'll see how it goes with me extending it to four years.  I figured I really needed a decent amount of time to be realistic in my expectations.

I don't expect anyone other than myself to be reading these posts, but I'm putting it out there anyway.  The main areas of my life (and more might be thought of along the way) to improve are the following:
FAMILY LIFE * FRIENDSHIPS * FAITH * FASHION * FACE * FITNESS * FAB-HAIR * FOOD

Yes, I didn't find a word that started with F for improving my hairstyle.

More will be coming, but this is getting things started. :)
